Nursing Home Neglect Testimonial
My mother was involved in a personal injury incident at a memory care facility, and based on the circumstances, we believed there may have been some neglect involved. I reached out to an attorney friend of mine for a recommendation, and they suggested Haigh and Yee. after that, I contacted Justin at the office, and we scheduled a meeting.
She had fallen and broken her pelvic bone, and we believe she had been lying there for quite some time before anyone found her. We didn’t think the facility had enough staff to adequately care for her the way they should have. We had some concerns before the accident, but once we got her to the hospital, we discovered additional issues. For example, her toenails were extremely long and clearly hadn’t been taken care of. I took pictures of everything and shared them with Justin and his team.
At the initial meeting, Justin reassured us that the consultation would be free. From there, the firm would decide whether or not to take on the case.
Justin told us that they not only felt very confident about the case, but that they were also confident they could win. One thing that really took a lot of weight off my shoulders was learning that they would handle the case on a contingency basis, meaning they would only get paid if we won the case. That made me feel very comfortable moving forward with them.
From there, we continued discussing the case. Justin wanted my feedback on how we should move forward while also giving me a lot of guidance and recommendations. He made me feel like I was truly part of the decision-making process. that same day, he already had a clear plan of action in place. And like I said before, he took on the case wholeheartedly.
Throughout the case, Justin would always give me a timeline and keep me informed about what to expect. He would say things like, ‘It’ll probably be about two weeks before I have an update on this decision,’ or, ‘The initial litigation process will probably begin within a month. I’ll call you in two weeks to get you up to speed, and then we’ll have you come into the office so we can all talk as a team.
Throughout the process, we met not only with Justin, but also with AJ and Ashley. It really felt like we had an entire team supporting us every step of the way.
As we moved through the case, there came a point where we had to decide whether or not to accept a settlement. Ultimately, Justin wanted to take the case to federal court, but we weren’t able to do that. instead, we were going to move forward through a process called arbitration.
Justin was able to negotiate an even better settlement than we originally expected, so we were very happy with the final outcome of the case.
I would recommend Haigh and Yee to anyone dealing with a legal case because Justin was extremely communicative, transparent, knowledgeable, and competent. He consistently kept me informed throughout the entire process.
And if it wasn’t Justin personally reaching out, it was someone else from his team — another attorney or a paralegal — making sure I stayed updated. As we moved through the case, it truly felt like I was part of the process. They weren’t just handling everything behind the scenes without keeping me informed.
A great way to reach us!
